Outstanding Program

We are now accepting nominations for the 2010 Outstanding MESA Programs.  Annually, Colorado MESA recognizes outstanding MESA programs around the state.  In an effort to recognize all the great work you as an advisor have done of the past year, we ask that the MESA community nominate outstanding programs for 2009-10.  When nominating programs for the 2010 Outstanding MESA Program, please keep in mind we are looking for programs that go above and beyond the MESA mission and program requirements.  As a reminder, all program nominations should meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Recruit at least 25 target students into the MESA program per year (target students include traditionally underrepresented Latinos,
African Americans, Native American, economically disadvantaged and women)
  • Hold weekly 1 ½ hour MESA meetings
  • Visit at least 1 university/college per year
  • Visit at least 1 industry/business per year
  • Hold semesterly parent meetings (fall/spring)
  • Attend statewide sponsored activities (HS Engineering and Science Jamboree, HS Fall Fling, MS MESA Day, Awards Banquet, MARK)
  • Have regular guest speakers
  • Introduce STEM based Career and College Exploration
  • Incorporate University mentors into your program
