Colorado MESA prepares thousands of students every year to enter the pipeline for STEM related educational and career opportunities. Beginning over 30 years ago, Colorado MESA has grown into a statewide program that encourages young women, minority and economically disadvantaged students to prepare themselves for a college education. Students focus on careers in science, aerospace, engineering energy, IT, computer science and, health sciences, among others. Colorado MESA provides curriculum, engineering design competitions, and mentoring for Colorado’s promising future workforce. Project Manager/Event Coordinator Job Description
The project manager/event coordinator will work with the Executive Director to ensure that all competitions and other Colorado MESA events are planned and executed successfully. Colorado MESA hosts three competitions per year and a professional development workshop. The primary responsibility of this position is to facilitate our signature competitions and workshop. This position will also provide assistance with resource development activities (including social media, donor database management, marketing/PR, and campaign awareness). Duties and Responsibilities:
• Plans, organizes, coordinates, promotes, and facilitates Colorado MESA competitions• Establish and facilitate competition committee meetings and report back to the Executive
Director on results, successes, and challenges
• Provide cost-analysis assistance for expenses related to these competitions• Assist Executive Director with securing competition sponsors
• Create marketing collateral to include press releases, advertisements, flyers, social media postings etc. to promote competitions
• Facilitate registration process leading up to the competitions and on the days of the competitions
• Assists advisors in preparing for competitions
• Other duties and/or projects as assigned
Education and Experience Requirement
• Candidate must have demonstrated organizational skills• Knowledge of the philanthropic community, corporate culture, and cultivation techniques
• Ability to work effectively with the leadership of the organization and corporate and civic leaders
• Knowledge of general marketing strategies to support development work; as it relates to securing competition sponsors
• Excellent interpersonal, writing, communication and public speaking skills
• Competent in effectively using technology including the internet, social networking, and donor databases as a tool for fundraising
• An entrepreneurial, flexible and resourceful spirit.
